Here is the attendance policy as published in the BNI handbook. These handbook were given to each member at the Member Success Program. Please ask a member of the leadership team for a copy if you do not have one.
"Attendance is critical to the group. If a member cannot attend, you may send a substitute (not a member of your chapter) to the meeting This will not count as an absence. A member is allowed three absences every six months (April through September, and October through March). More than this and the member's classification is subject to being opened by the chapter's Leadership Team or Membership committee."

Guidelines for a sub:
The sub is there to represent you and your business. You need to explain to them what will be expected of them, and prepare them to give your infomercial (1 minute). They are not supposed to give their own infomercial until prompted by the chapter president. This is commonly done during the rotation of "Guest" infomercial's. Here is a typical introduction: "My name is John Smith from ABC Company. I am subbing for Ron Smith today. Ron owns ......"
